U.S. Congressman Mike Rogers Speaks at MMI

On Wednesday, MMI was honored to host (AL–3) as our first Distinguished Speaker of the year for the Anthony J. Rane Center for Leadership. As Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, Rep. Rogers delivered an insightful speech on national security, explaining the global world order in great detail. He touched on topics such as Russian aggression, threats from China, drone capabilities, and the high-tech future of warfare. His emphasis on rapid Space Force expansion and defending satellites spurred additional questions from cadets, many of whom will serve in the U.S. military. Rep. Rogers also shared his commitment to bettering the quality of life for our military families, to the tune of a $4.5 Billion investment over last year. Besides personnel pay increases, he reported on federal initiatives designed to add value to service members, including housing, education, spousal employment and childcare improvements. Also visiting Marion to support their congressman were Jimmy Rane (MMI ’64), Greg Rane and James Rane (MMI Trustee) of Great Southern Wood Preserving. At noon formation, Rep. Rogers and the Ranes stood for the customary pass in review by the MMI Corps of Cadets. All special guests were invited to a seated luncheon with cadet leadership and senior staff before the Chapel speech.
